Today at the Seley Shop...

Today at the Seley Painting shop, we're staining cabinets and drawers for a new kitchen.  We began the process at Six Walls Interior Design to come up with a custom color scheme for the client, then used Daly's product to create two stain colors for the kitchen woodwork.

The kitchen island will be darker than the rest of the kitchen woodwork, creating an accent piece to the room.   The island color is created using a two-step process, first applying Daly's dye #1/2 242.  For the second coat, we used Daly's stain #1/2 184.  These two colors together give the island a dark java bean color with a hint of black.

The rest of the kitchen is done with a lighter stain color, Daly's 1/2 49.  All of the kitchen cabinets and woodwork are being finished with Campbell's Krystal Satin conversion varnish.

Staining With Daly's "Java Bean" Wood Stain

Today in the Seley Services shop, we stained a piece of sapele wood with Daly's "Java Bean" wood stain.  Sapele is a dense wood that is very similar (and a great alternative) to mahogany.  It's durability and unique graining make it a popular choice for hardwood floors.  Take a look at our before & after photos... it only took a few minutes to transform our sample piece!
